The Power of Three

There is power in focus.

What would it look like if you had to summarize your issue in no more than three sentences?
What if you had to summarize it in three words?

What if you were forced to apply only three strategies to resolving the issue?
What if each strategy could only have three tactics?

These questions can help you get to what is really important. You can gain a lot of focus by limiting yourself, even if the constraint is artificial and temporary. You might even find that you like the power of focus enough to retain the limitations even after you are done with the exercise.

Focusing your effort on a few select places will allow you to make a more significant impact than if you focused your effort on many different things. It doesn’t take long for complexity to impact focus. For example, if you allowed yourself to have five areas of focus, and each area of focus had five tactics associated with it... before you know it, you have to divide your attention between 25 items.
