Looking at Language
I have thoroughly enjoyed the reoccurring partnership with Richard Lederer and the Mensa Bulletin. Illustrating Richard’s Looking at Language column has been a delight each month. Where else can you try to represent such wonderful concepts and mashups? This opportunity has allowed me to grow, contribute, and learn the meaning of “Groak!”
The September 2023 issue was about matching up real or imaginary people with their perfect literary title.
The December 2021 issue had a Christmas Limerick contest and this piece about the difficulties of Santa navigating COVID restrictions.
Where on earth did the term "Dead as a doornail" come from?!? There are the kind of tough issues we tackle here - well, at least we did so in August of 2023...

"The Spooks Among Us" was a great part of the October 2022 poetry contest. This illustration probably makes a lot more sense when you read it!
