Once you have identified a solution to a difficult issue, it can often help to test that solution. One effective method is to brainstorm about all of the flaws that your solution might possess. This is difficult to do unless you consciously make an effort to “flaw-storm.”

Identify things that could make your current solution worse than you expect.

  • Generate ideas that create problems and emphasize flaws.

  • Attack your solution as though you were competing against it.

Have fun with the whole exercise - the more you get caught up in this process (rather than thinking about how the exercise could possibly help your current situation) the better the information you will receive.

Now that you have identified weaknesses in your plan, create solutions to eliminate or reduce the identified flaws.
